Dear Patrons,

Those of you who visit us regularly have probably noticed a fair number of small changes to library services over the past few months. Those of you who haven't visited us in a while might not have noticed. But I wanted to let you know about everything that is going on, because I think these are changes that most of you will like!

Hopefully, most of you know that we relaxed the old rule about "no beverages in the library." We now allow beverages in the library as long as they have a lid. (Still no alcoholic beverages, though, please.) This is something that I know frustrated some of you over the past few years, and I hope you'll celebrate by bringing in a cup of coffee for your favorite staff member.

More recently, I'm excited to announce that we have updated our circulation policies with some changes that we hope you'll also like. We will no longer be charging for movie checkouts. That pesky $1 fee is gone. DVDs, Blu-Rays, and whatever the next technology ends up being can now be checked out free of charge. Also, the checkout period for most of our books has been changed from 2 weeks to 3 weeks. That's for fiction, non-fiction, children's books, audiobooks, just about everything. For a complete list of our current lending rules, click here.

If that isn't enough for you, we're still excited about the new Palos Heights Library App, available for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. If you haven't taken a look at everything that it can do, take a minute and give it a shot. It allows easy access to your library account, to the library catalog, and pretty much all of our other online resources all in one place and formatted to work seamlessly with your portable device. We're bringing the library to you.

If all of this still isn't enough for you, stay tuned. We have a more big things coming your way in the months ahead!

Best wishes,

Signature jesse2
